The reason is simple: the region is dangerously dry, wildfires are burning across Colorado, and fuel moisture in the city is at levels last seen before the Waldo Canyon Fire.
Here is the good news. Almost everything else is still on. The Monument parade rolls, the Street Fair fills 2nd Street, the Festival on the Fourth still takes over Palmer Lake, and Pikes Peak is opening its summit for sunrise and sunset for America’s 250th birthday. What Is Canceled or Postponed
Here is the current list as of July 3:
- Star-Spangled Symphony at Ford Amphitheater: postponed entirely. The full concert and fireworks show will be rescheduled, with a new date to be announced.
- Palmer Lake fireworks: canceled June 30 by the Palmer Lake Fire Chief. The Festival on the Fourth continues without them.
- Banning Lewis Ranch fireworks: canceled.
- Weidner Field and The Broadmoor displays: canceled.
- Woodland Park fireworks: canceled. All other Woodland Park festivities continue.
- Cripple Creek fireworks: canceled. The parade, live music, and vendors continue.

Festival on the Fourth at Palmer Lake

Rock Ledge Ranch Celebration

For America’s 250th and Colorado’s 150th, Pikes Peak is offering special July 4 summit programming, including sunrise experiences and its first-ever sunset openings at 14,115 feet.
Front Range Freedom Fest (July 3)
Fort Carson kicks off the weekend on July 3 with a free public celebration: live rock concert, 20+ food trucks, and a bounce-house park. Apply for a gate pass online; visitors 15 and up need photo ID.

Downtown parking is very limited on the Fourth because of road closures. Park at Lewis-Palmer High School, 1300 Higby Road, and ride the free shuttle. The inbound shuttle runs 7:30 to 9:45 AM and the outbound runs 12:30 to 3:00 PM.
Catch the parade and the flyover
The children’s parade steps off at 9:30 AM and the main parade follows at 10:00 AM with a C-130 flyover. Then walk the Street Fair or settle in at the Limbach Park beer garden for the afternoon.
End the evening at Palmer Lake
The Festival on the Fourth runs 4:00 to 10:00 PM with live bands, food, and vendors at the lake. Crowds will still be big, so arrive early and expect paid parking. No parking along Highway 105 or County Line Road.
Leave the fireworks alone this year
