Named a Scotsman Guide Top Originator for 2026 – J.D. Peck

I was named a Scotsman Guide Top Originator for 2026 — based on verified 2025 production.

This is one of the most recognized rankings in the mortgage industry. Every name on the list goes through the same process — employer-documented and independently audited before the list is published. There is no shortcut to getting on it.

PRMG placed 19 loan officers on this year’s list. I am one of them.

What 2024 and 2025 Actually Looked Like

In 2024, I made a full company transition to PRMG.

That means new systems, new processes, and rebuilding workflows from scratch — after more than a decade inside the same platform. Anyone who has done this knows it is not easy. Loans still had to close. Clients still had to be taken care of. The work did not stop while the infrastructure was being rebuilt.

At the same time, 2025 was a year of intentional focus. I deepened my emphasis on VA lending — the product I have built my career around — while also investing significant time learning PRMG’s Non-QM platform from the ground up. That is not a passive process. It takes time away from production, and I made that trade on purpose.

Production in 2025 was down from prior years. I am not going to gloss over that. But making the Scotsman Guide list while rebuilding infrastructure, sharpening my VA practice, and adding a full Non-QM capability — that is something I am proud of.

The Numbers Behind It

25+ years in the mortgage industry.

3,100+ closed loans.

The work that drives those numbers is not always straightforward. VA loans with no minimum credit score. Manual underwriting for borrowers who do not fit an automated system. Non-QM options for self-employed borrowers, real estate investors, and people with complex income.

These are the loans that take more work to get done right. That is what this team focuses on.

What This Means for You

If you are a veteran, active duty service member, or self-employed — and you have been told your file is too complex or does not fit — this is the kind of recognition that tells you whether your lender knows how to handle it.

Being named to this list is one signal. Your closed loan is the result.
